Since 1993, Viveca Gardiner has produced variety arts, circus, and theater; performed as a juggler, ringmistress, trapeze artist, stilt walker, and roller skater; and worked backstage on wardrobe, concessions, ticketing, rigging, electrics, sound, sets, tent work, and house management. She has sawdust in her veins.
Viveca has taught circus skills to hundreds of children and adults in residencies, in- and after-school programs, continuing education courses, private lessons, special events, and corporate seminars.
In addition to founding Playful Productions, Viveca co-founded and edits CircusNYC.com and JuggleNYC.com. She is a contributing editor of JUGGLE magazine, a member of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Advisory Board; a coach with Circus of the Kids; and a member of the International Jugglers Association, the NYC Jugglers, and the American Youth Circus Organization. Before founding Playful Productions in 2001, Viveca was a director of the Big Apple Circus where she developed and managed community programs and wrote a study guide about circus arts and a circus-themed activity book for hospitalized children.
She has a bachelor's degree in literature from Harvard University and a master's degree in management from the Yale School of Management.
